Council Votes on Liquor Store Age Restriction
The Jackson City Council voted on Tuesday to keep people that are underage from entering a liquor store all together. The measure is an amendment to an already existing ordinance. It would legally prohibit anyone under age 21 from going into a liquor store without a parent or guardian. It also prohibits visibly intoxicated people from entering the liquor stores. “I’m glad to see it pass because, it creates just one hurdle for underage drinking. We’re not going to eradicate, we’re not going to stop it. But we can make it a little harder for them,” said Councilman Scott Conger The council will vote on a second reading of the amendment in the next meeting.
