The Jackson Rotary Club devoted its weekly meeting to honoring area veterans. In particular, veterans from World War II were recognized by the club, Wednesday. 13 were present. Members of the Bethel University Band also performed, followed by keynote speaker, Jack Holmes, a veteran of the Vietnam War. Club members said programs like this are very important. “I think the veterans appreciate being remembered, said Susan Hays, program director. “I’ve recently been in Phoenix where you have a lot of retired veterans and they want to show me their pictures, their albums when they were in World War II. It’s very important and they think, a lot of times I think they think they’re forgotten these days.” Wednesday’s program comes just two days before Veteran’s Day, which will be recognized as a national holiday, Friday.
