Crockett Co. Sheriff Increases Fire Power
Do not mess with the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department. The shot guns have been traded in. Now the department is packing AR-15 Smith and Wesson rifles. “Sure it is an intimidation just to see someone carrying one of these type firearms. You know they have the capability to reap havoc if they need to,” said Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce. The sheriff’s department must match the power of some weapon holders in the county. Just last week deputies arrested a man for allegedly shooting an AK-47 in his front yard. “It gives you a lot of confidence to let you know that if there is a bad situation you are going to be able to end it quickly,” said Captain Eric Uselton. Members of the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department are currently being trained on the AR-15. This weapon is similar to the one being used by the United States military. “The neat thing about one of these weapons is you can fire so fast one round at a time it sounds like a fully automatic,” said Sheriff Klyce. One round at a time with thirty and fifty round clips. According to the Sheriff the money for the guns came from trading in the shot guns and money from the drug fund.
