Rescuers Find Man Lost In Mountains
Rescuers have found a young southeastern Kentucky man who had become lost near the Kentucky-Tennessee border.
Authorities were concerned that heavy rain moving into Bell County could hinder their search for 21-year-old Anthony Michael Mitchell, who is mentally disabled, according to WYMT-TV in Hazard
Mitchell told his mother he would be right back as he left home near Middlesboro on Monday evening, but he didn’t return.
Rescuers searched overnight Monday and found Mitchell on Tuesday morning. He said his all-terrain vehicle had become stuck in the mud and he didn’t know what to do. Rescuers were able to determine the general area the man was in because surveillance video from a mine captured an image of him.
Mitchell was found unharmed.
