New Red Light Camera Suit Filed
A second lawsuit has been filed over a Tennessee statute affecting revenue from red-light cameras.
Redflex Traffic Systems filed suit Monday in Knox County Chancery Court against the town of Farragut, according to The Knoxville News Sentinel The lawsuit asks that a law that went into effect July 1 be declared unconstitutional or that exception be made for contracts already in force when the law took effect.
Phoenix-based Redflex claims it has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars because of the statute.
Public Chapter 425 bars citations for improper right turns on red when the only evidence is traffic camera video.
The lawsuit is similar to one filed Nov. 8 against Knoxville by American Traffic Solutions, Inc.
A state attorney general opinion concluded the new law is constitutional.
