New Citizens Celebrate at Naturalization Ceremony

More Americans than ever are calling West Tennessee home. 61 people who call, West Tennessee home took the oath of American citizenship during a naturalization ceremony, Thursday. One of the requirements was for each participant completed American history and citizenship classes. Many of them said they looked forward to all the opportunities of being an American citizen. “Quite a number of people are very kind and I like the way people have opportunities to be able to do many things and also to enhance my education,” said Doris June, a new citizen from Kenya. “It’s everybody’s dream,” said Emma Cervantes, a new citizen from the Philippines “People around the world want to come to America because America is a free country and there’s an opportunity, a lot of opportunity.” The new citizens who were naturalized represent dozens of different countries.
