Animal Shelter Director To Step Down
The director of a western Kentucky animal shelter where dogs were allegedly euthanized without sedation says she will resign from her position next month.
McCracken County Humane Society Executive Director Shirley Grimes told The Paducah Sun that she intends to step down at the next board meeting in early December .
The action comes amid a police investigation that found dogs were being euthanized at the Humane Society shelter by injecting drugs into their heart without sedation.
Grimes, who started the shelter 34 years ago, said she is “heartbroken” over the findings and has decided it is time for the facility to have new leadership.
