This week, it is not just workers in retail who will be working overtime, so will officers across West Tennessee. With the holiday season comes more drivers on the road and the potential for more danger. That is why Madison County deputies, as well as officers from every other agency in the state will conduct extra patrols, beginning Wednesday, as part of the state’s new “More Cops, More Stops” campaign. “With the high visibility of law enforcement that people will be more safety conscious and that is the whole mission and purpose of the operation,” said Sheriff David Woolfork of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. It is not just impaired drivers will be looking for. They will also target those who are speeding, not wearing their seat belt or who are distracted by things like texting. Extra patrols will continue through the Thanksgiving weekend.
