North Parkway Collects for RIFA
This holiday season local families will get to fill their tables, thanks to the kindness of some young students. For weeks, students at North Parkway Middle School have been collecting canned goods and stacking them in their entrance. After gathering more than 500 cans, they donated the food to RIFA, Tuesday. Teachers told 7 Eyewitness News they hope programs like this teach students a lesson that extends beyond the classroom. “The ultimate lesson would be to give with a cheerful heart and know that you are helping those who are in need,” said Mal Matthews, a teacher at Parkway Middle School. RIFA, not only helps feed families during the holidays, but year-round, including a soup kitchen that provides hot meals everyday of the year.
