Many area runners got an early start to a Thanksgiving tradition Thursday morning. Gold’s Gym in Jackson hosted its seventh annual Turkey Day 5K run. A total of 674 runners participated in the race, which is almost 150 more people than last year. The proceeds from the race go to the Regional Interfaith Association (aka RIFA) here in Jackson. Organizers told 7 Eyewitness News they see more participants every year. “I’m just thankful for God giving me the power and gift of running,” runner Joshua Tabor said. And new this year, each of the runners had chip-activated numbers on them so they could get the most accurate time readings.
