Jackson City Workers to Get Insurance Rebate
Even better new for most City of Jackson workers. On top of the $500 end of the year bonus likely coming your way, you may get another $200+. This only applies to city workers who get their insurance through the city. It is thanks to a federal government reimbursement under the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program. The one-time, non-taxable payout is for all plan participants who were enrolled on October 31. According to the city, family participants would receive $223, while individuals would receive $220. If approved by the Jackson City Council on Tuesday, the Mayor says the money would be distributed soon after. The city says there are currently 208 employees on the city’s individual medical plan and 336 employees on the city’s family medical plan. There are also 78 retirees who are still on the medical plan, bringing the total number of plan participants to 622.
