Carroll County Homeowners Concerned Over Road Project
Several Carroll County residents are worried they may lose their homes in the near future, due to a new highway in the works. The new State Route 76 is designed to begin right on the Carroll County line in Atwood and create a quicker route from Milan to McKenzie. But TDOT officials said some properties may be in they way, and they are looking into purchasing them. Around 115 Carroll County residents received letters telling them their property would be surveyed. Although this does not necessarily mean their land will be bought, it is making them very uneasy. “Nobody likes to move. Especially when you’ve been in a place for a long time. Moving’s never fun. It’s a big hassle. And we’d have to find somewhere else to live,” said resident Brandon Allred. TDOT officials told 7 Eyewitness News before they begin construction, they will hold three open hearings for all concerned residents. The first one is expected to be in January of 2013.
