On the ballot was one question, Mayor of Milan Chris Crider or Paul Spain, Junior. Last month Incumbent Mayor Chris Crider received 801 votes. Paul Spain Junior received 800 votes. “I didn’t vote last time and I found out it was one different and I thought I may have been the one that thrown the race,” said Milan resident Charlotte Mays. The turnout was strong at many of the locations including the Milan Senior Citizens Center and the Milan Express. Coaching Legend John Tucker also cast his vote. “It’s time for the people of Milan to make a decision as far as our Mayor. It’s been a very tightly contested race. It’s time for us to do our patriotic duty,” said Thorne Barbour. “As any small town, there has been alot of difficulty with all the industries we have lost,” said Dennis Krause. “In the last few years, like so many towns in Gibson County we have seen so much industry leave this area,” said Barbour. “We have got to have someone in there that is gonna fight to bring industry to West Tennessee to Milan.” Crider is a former state representative, Spain is an inspector with the Department of Agriculture. “I think it’s important for every town, because there is economic problems and you have to have someone who will stay on top of that,” said Mays.
