Tigrett Middle Gospel Choir Performing in Atlanta
Students from Tigrett Middle School’s gospel choir learned they will perform on January 5-7 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. The event is part of the festivities held in connection with the 2011 Trumpet Awards. “As you can see now I have no voice because we’ve been singing extremely hard … these past few months, but we’re very proud of our students at Tigrett,” said choir director Jackie Burns. Wednesday the students performed for staff and school officials at the Jackson-Madison County Board of Education. The choir included 15 of its 45 students who sang while attendees held their annual Christmas luncheon. “This is our third year but of course we loose 8th graders every year, so 6th and 7th graders have to step up to the 8th grader’s position. They work hard and we audition and we pick some of the best students that we have,” said Burns.
