Plans For “The Academy” in Adamsville
The cause of the fire a few weeks ago in Adamsville has not been determined. Not much is left of The Academy School of Gymnastics and Dance. “It was very devastating, very sad. We came up here and watched it for a couple hours. It was a very long fire and there was nothing we could do,” said Jennifer Leckner, who owns the business. The fire has not kept the girls from dancing four days a week. They are dancing at the Institute of Hair Design and across the street at First Methodist Church. “This building will be rebuilt. We don’t know how long that will take so we may end up back on Main Street or we may end up somewhere else.” The dance classes have resumed however 35 girls are still waiting for the gymnastics classes to start in January. The girls can not wait to get back. “When they see me around town they just hug me and they miss me and they can’t wait to start gymnastics and it’s been really sad for a lot of the girls. They have had some tears over losing the academy,” said Leckner. This past weekend the girls went to Nashville and placed first in the Competition Squad. Quite an accomplishment for these young dancers. The academy is a place that means a lot to the people of Adamsville. “The community has been very concerned, very kind in what they have said and what they have done,” Leckner said. What happened that terrible night has not stopped Leckner from providing a place for young girls to dance, laugh and play. “I’m very happy that nobody was hurt, just to continue to look on the bright side. Good things keep happening,” said Leckner
