Jackson City Councilman Ernest Brooks donated the food gathered during his fourth annual Jackson Hunger Project. This year’s recipient, Area Relief Ministries or ARM, received all 11,000 cans of donated food. It will go to help the organization feed those who benefit from the group’s “Room in the Inn” Emergency Winter Shelter for Men. A recent study showed more than 350 homeless people live in Jackson. “What better way to show your thanks, for being so blessed than to help someone less fortunate,” Councilman Ernest Brooks. More than 50 area churches provide overnight shelter as part of “Room at the Inn.” The canned food will help stock the food pantries of the churches, which provide a warm meal for the men each night.
