Deputies For The Hungry

One West Tennessee Sheriff’s Department took steps on Saturday to make a difference in the lives of those who are hungry. It’s called Deputies for the Hungry, and the hunters and inmates were all on board. Saturday morning, the Henry County Sheriff’s Department invited local hunters to bring in their buck or does to help a good cause. The deer is processed at the Sheriff’s Department with their own materials and with the help from the inmates. Authorities said it is a way to feed those who need the meat and to help regulate the doe population. “Come in and get free deer venison and take home. Whether you want to make chili, tacos, hamburgers, deer burgers. The hunters and the inmates feel like they are giving something back to the community here in Henry County,” said Sheriff Belew. After the first of the year anyone is welcome to come to the Henry County Sheriff’s Department in Paris on Wednesday’s from 8A.M.-2P.M. to pick up free deer meat.
