Large Equipment Stolen in McNairy Co.
20 plus jobs are at risk as a West Tennessee company may be forced to shut down, after Thursday night’s big burglary at a gravel pit in McNairy County. The suspects are still on the loose. The gravel pit’s manager says these thieves knew what they were doing, and they obviously did not have a problem using their company’s equipment to help allegedly commit the crime. “(They) used our torches to cut the welder and compressor off the truck and used the loader to load them up, and then broke into the shop and stole our toolboxes and several tools in there,” said Kerry Stevens. The burglars got away with $15,000 to $20,000 worth of “Tennessee Material Corporation” equipment. Stevens said this will not only affect himself and their employees, but other businesses like concrete companies and other businesses they work with. Company leaders said the stolen equipment was expensive and the gravel company can not afford to buy new machinery. “It could shut me down. If we were to have a problem with the plant or one of the trucks right now, we don’t have any tools to work on them with,” said Stevens. If you have any information on this case, you are asked to call the McNairy Co. Sheriff’s Department (731) 645-1005.
