If you are planning a vacation for the holidays, law enforcement officials said to be mindful of how much you share about your trip on Facebook. Officials told us they usually see an increase in home break ins during the holidays. So if you do things like update your status about an upcoming vacation or post pictures while you are out of town, potential burglars could be watching. According to Captain Tracey Grisham with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, many burglaries are committed by someone the victim knows. This means even if your page is set to private, your updates could still be getting into the wrong hands. “We’re not saying not to post your vacation. Just wait until you get home. Then post, ‘We had a great time.’ Put your pictures on when you get home,” said Grisham This does not just apply to out of town vacations. Captain Grisham said you should also limit what information you share anytime you leave your house.
