Report Released On Crash That Killed Dyersburg Man
A report is out on a plane crash last month that took the life of a Dyer County man in South Dakota. A preliminary report suggests student pilot Charlie Palmer, of Dyersburg, was practicing touch-and-go landings in western South Dakota and apparently lost control of the Cessna single engine plane. The National Transportation Safety Board report indicates Palmer was taking off on November 11 after his second landing when the flight instructor saw the plane spin and hit the ground. Investigators did not find anything mechanically wrong with the plane, and weather conditions on the clear day with light wind do not appear to have contributed to the crash. The report also said the plane was involved in a takeoff accident in 2000, but no one was hurt.
