Some West Tennessee families said they are focusing on family this holiday season rather than expensive gifts. “It’s the best time of the year and you get to hang around with your family,” said Abigail Ingram, a youngster who celebrated Christmas with her family in Madison County. Abigail said she got, among other gifts, a set of dolls. She admits the dolls were not at the top of her list. “I was expecting some zoo zoo pets,” she said. Her cousin Amira Bond said although the gifts are nice, she agrees with her Abigail. “I like family, friends and cousins and uncles,” said Amira. “Most people they spend time on how expensive it is but as long as you have your family and friend that’s (family) not expensive,” said Caeasha Brown, a parent from East Jackson. Brown said last year presented a financial challenge. Brown said her mother contributed to gifts for her children this year which was of great help to her. “It was big for them because they got what they wanted…as long as they got what they wanted that’s fine,” she said.
