“Chipping of the Green” Announced
Keep Jackson Beautiful is sponsoring the “Chipping of the Green” event again this year. Members of the group will join with Master Gardener volunteers and provide the manpower to turn your old trees into small wood chips. The wood chips can be used for garden pathways, or for composting, and will be bagged and available for pickup by the public at no charge. You can bring your leftover trees from now until January 14, 2012 to two locations in Jackson. The North location is at 187 Stonebrook Place, in the parking lot of Petco, and the South location is at the fire training center in front of Jackson’s Fairgrounds Park. Those interested in donating their tree can also call the city for curbside pickup until January 12, 2012. For free wood chips, they can be picked up on Saturday, January 14, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Jackson’s Fairgrounds Park.
