Crockett Co. Encouraged By Employment Numbers
A new business is opening in Crockett County. Located off of 412 in Bells, The Front Porch Restaurant is looking for help. Applications are now being accepted for four server positions, which is music to the ears of Mayor Gary Reasons. “Any time we have a new facility open in the county such as The Front Porch out on Highway 412 it is an opportunity for people to work here in the county,” Reasons said. According to the Tennessee Department of Labor, from November of 2010 to November of 2011 the unemployement rate dropped in Crockett County from 12.1 percent to 10 percent. “When we talk about unemployement the work force here in Crockett County, 6,970 that’s our total work force. We have a little less than 700 people unemployed. Anytime we can change that number to a positive it’s good for Crockett County,” Reasons said. The McDonalds and Flashmart off of 412 in Bells will open early next year, creating 60 new jobs. “In 2012, Crockett County has excellent opportunities because the potential along 412, the megasite in Haywood County, the I-69 part coming out of Lake County, so alot of opportunities for growth with the high traffic count here in Crockett County.” The mayor is pleased with the new unemployement numbers, however he wants to see the number go even lower.
