JMCSS Holds Community Workshop
Monday was the final day of the Christmas holiday for students of the Jackson-Madison County school district. However, the same could not be said about their teachers. Monday, was an in-service day for the district’s instructors. Some chose to attend a parent, teacher and community workshop at Madison Academic, lead by a member of the Ron Clark Academy. The session focused on what can be done to increase student performance at the district’s struggling middle schools. School leaders said the teachers are ready for the challenge. “They are excited to go back to their classrooms, to own what’s going on it their classrooms, and to take these kids where they are and to take them right on out of the top,” said Lois Mayes, principal of Rose Hill Middle School. Jackson-Madison County teachers are required to attend three in service sessions every school year.
