Arrest Made in Phillips 66 Robbery

Jackson Police said they have arrested the man who shot at a convenience store clerk before robbing her at the business, Tuesday night. Robert McLemore, 20, of Jackson is jailed with a $100,000 bond on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and a weapons count. Investigators said just before 9 Tuesday night, McLemore walked into the Phillips 66 on the Highway 45 Bypass, fired a shot at the clerk’s head then stole money from her purse and the store’s cash drawer. More than an hour later, McLemore was arrested inside a nearby fast food restaurant. “We were successful in containing the perimeter and he knew that his being caught was inevitable,” said Lt. Tyreece Miller of the Jackson Police Department. “So what he did was he just went inside the Taco Bell to try to blend in with the customers and one of our officers were alert and spotted him and he was taken into custody.” McLemore was also wanted on tow outstanding warrants related to previous thefts. The clerk was not hurt. McLemore returns to court on January 12. L
