Tigrett Middle School Choir Leaves for Atlanta
A Jackson middle school is traveling to Georgia to perform for an awards program honoring those who contribute to enhancing the quality of life for others. The Tigrett Middle School Gospel Choir left Thursday morning to sing at the Trumpet Awards and the international Civil Rights Walk of Fame. 45 students who make up the gospel choir have been practicing and performing for several weeks to prepare for their big performance. Teachers and the director of the choir said they all are naturally talented and are ready to sing. “I think it says that we’re doing the right thing and that people are recognizing these kids and their talent and I think that’s a wonderful thing, said Carlie Brantley, choral director at Tigrett Middle School. “So hopefully there’s more invitations to come.” Brantley told 7 Eyewitness News the students will sing Friday morning at the Civil Rights Hall of Fame, then again at an Atlanta area school in the afternoon. They will also do some sightseeing before returning to Jackson, Saturday. The choir’s performance will air nationally on April 8.
