A Friendship man will appear in Haywood County General Sessions Court January 17. Rickie Lumley is charged with aggravated burglary. The arrest of Lumley sounds like it came straight out of Hollywood. “It seemed like something out of a movie, ” said Crockett County Sheriff’s Department Captain Eric Uselton. It was on Ing road in Dyer County that Crockett County Detective Allan Gilliland noticed Lumley, a man they had been searching for since November. “We were just driving down the road and we met a red s-u-v and I looked and said I think that was him, ” said Gilliland. Investigators said Lumley jumped out of his car and Captain Uselton chased Lumley on foot for a half mile. “(I) just didn’t want him to get away,” said Uselton. Investigators said Lumley tried to hide out in an area full of bushes. 11 cars responded, 15 people surrounded Lumley..including the Dyer County K-9 team. “The dog, it don’t make a difference to the dog what kind of terrain he’s in, he’s going in,” said Gilliland. “He gave up at that point in time,” said Uselton. “It feels good any time we can get a suspected burglar off the street, it’s one for us. It does feel good, ” said Gilliland.
