Off-Duty JPD Officer Suspended after Bus Wreck
A Jackson police officer is off the job after he is accused of causing a wreck, Tuesday morning while behind the wheel of a Jackson-Madison County school bus. The school district said Patrolman Jeremy Insell, 30, has worked for the district on his off time as a bus driver for the last two years. Tuesday morning, just before 7:30, investigators said Insell, while driving a bus, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Lambuth and Hatton, slamming head on into an SUV. The driver of the SUV, A 37-year-old Jackson man underwent surgery Wednesday at Vanderbilt Medical Center. The police report indicates he suffered two broken legs. Insell, a two-year veteran of the police department, has been place on paid administrative leave while the school district has suspended him pending the outcome of the investigation. At this point, no charges have been filed.
