Ads Could Come To KY Buses

School districts could allow advertising on school buses under a bill that has passed the state House and now heads to the Senate.

By a 69-27 vote, the House approved the bill by Democratic state Rep. Terry Mills of Lebanon.

Mills said the intent of his bill is to give school districts the option as a means of raising revenue. He emphasized that the measure “does not mandate a change.”

Rep. Brad Montell, a Shelbyville Republican, said that schoolchildren are “bombarded with advertising” already.

Montell also said that having ads on the sides of school buses could be a distraction to other drivers.

Mills said the proposal would be good for businesses, good for schools and good for Kentucky
