Education Forum Held with State Lawmakers
The Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International hosted an education forum, Thursday night inviting state lawmakers and the public to discuss education-related issued for 2012. Several West Tennessee legislators were invited and served on the panel. Among those in attendance, State Representatives Jimmy Eldridge, Johnny Shaw and Steve McDaniel. The public was encouraged to ask questions of members of the panel. “We thought this would be a great way to get teachers and legislators together without their having to miss time from their students,” said Melinda Carroll, president of Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. This is the first time the group has held an education forum and said they hope to make it and annual event.
