Work Continues on Building Collapse, Investigation
There are still safety concerns looming after Monday’s building collapse in downtown Greenfield. The building, which housed Legends Little Italy Pizzeria did not completely collapse, a back wall is still standing and structural engineers said it is unstable. They also said if it falls, it could damage an adjacent building, which had the owner of the collapsed building working toward finding the safest way to bring down the wall. “(Thursday), I met with an engineering firm who’s going to make me a demolition plan and that plan will be submitted to OSHA and as soon as they approve it we’ll let a contract to whichever firm wants to finish tearing down the building,” said”Keith Tucker, the building’s owner. Monday’s collapse trapped three men, killing one of them, Renardo Jackson, 32. TOSHA is now investigating the incident. City officials said the official report containing the cause of the collapse is expected next week.
