Residents Wait for Justice in Karen Swift Murder

As of Friday, it had been 48 days since Karen Swift’s body was taken to the state medical examiners office to determine her cause of death. Friday, Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box said it should not be too much longer before they have an autopsy report, but residents said they were ready for some answers. Sheriff Box said he expected closure soon for everyone. “I hope they have answers soon, that way we’ll know there are no murderer’s among us, and be able to feel a little better”, said resident Denise Dean. Sheriff Box said Karen Swift’s killer was still out there and they wanted to be careful before they exposed too many details until someone was in custody. He continued to assure 7 Eyewitness News he talked to state medical examiners constantly, who had Karen Swift’s body, and he believed they were trying to wrap things up. Officials said they did know some details from the medical examiners but were not able to say. The sheriff said this was a very complex investigation, and everyone would definitely understand why , and he hoped that would be soon.
