MCSD Gets New Uniforms
Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department have a new look. This week, new uniforms were issued and are now being worn by most of the deputies. The new uniforms will be phased in for deputies who work at the jail. The old uniforms included lighter, blue tops and gray pants, The new all navy outfits are very similar to the ones worn by Jackson Police. “I think it is a little more practical for day to day activities. If you notice, we are in dark blue now where we used to have the lighter blue,” said Captain Anthony Heavner of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. “I think this in the long run will be a little more professional and neater look.” This is the first uniform change in more than 30 years. The sheriff said the current uniform purchase price is $48,000.
