Police Investigate Shooting at Lane Crest Apartments
Jackson police are investigating an early morning shooting at Lane Crest Apartments. According to investigators, police were called to the scene at 905 Lane Avenue around 4:25 a.m. A 25-year-old woman and 27-year-old man, both from Jackson, told police that they were in a grassy area on the west side of the complex looking for a dropped cell phone. The pair said a car pulled up and two men got out. One of the suspects reportedly started grabbing at the man’s pocket, while asking about money. After the robber took the man’s money, the victim said he struggled with his attacker. At that time, the second man allegedly fired a shot striking the woman in the area of her upper right shoulder. Both men are said to have gotten back in the car and left. Police said the woman, who is six-months pregnant, was transported to a local hospital. She was last listed in stable condition and she is anticipated to be released from the hospital around mid-day. The suspect car was described as a burgundy-colored, four-door, older model Chevy or Ford with large chrome rims. Both suspects were described as black males, around 5′ 10″ in height and weighed between 160 and 170 pounds.
