North Parkway Hosts Black History Program
A Jackson middle school’s students, teachers and staff took time Friday to honor Black History month and to remember the Civil Rights movement. Doctor LaSimba Gray, Jr. spoke to North Parkway Middle School students about the Civil Rights movement. Doctor Gray said informing the next generation about civil rights is a duty that can not be forgotten. “We can celebrate each other, we can work together and we can celebrate each other in the sense that we benefit from each other and then we can, together, achieve anything that our minds and hearts are set to do,” said Dr. L. LaSimba Gray, pastor of the New Sardis Baptist Church. “The court battle, and the marching and the demonstrations, all that went on, and you have a fully integrated school and young people sitting together, learning together and working together. It is worth everything we did,” he said. North Parkway’s program is just one of numerous Black History Month programs throughout the month.
