Teen Charged In Fatal Wreck
A teenage driver whose truck crashed, killing a 14-year-old passenger, has been indicted on criminal charges in Shelby County.
Christopher Minton is charged with vehicular homicide and aggravated assault, according to The Commercial Appeal, quoting a spokesman for the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office (http://bit.ly/zuhyDN ).
Minton is free on his own recognizance and it wasn’t clear whether he had an attorney.
Rachel Lutrell, who was a freshman at Bolton High School, was killed Nov. 9 when Minton’s truck ran off a road and struck a tree in Lakeland.
Minton and two other passengers were injured.
Investigators said Minton’s blood-alcohol level was 0.07. While the presumed level of intoxication for adults is 0.08, the level for anyone under 21 is 0.02.
