Collectible Currency Stolen, Suspects on the Loose

Henderson County investigators are trying to identify two suspects they believe stole rare money from an elderly man. The two people in surveillance video are believed to be using the silver certificate dollars stolen from a home three weeks ago. Investigators said about three thousand dollars in the collectible dollars along with some coins were taken. Captain Tracey Grisham told 7 Eyewitness News these silver certificates are easily identified. Although similar to normal dollars, they have colored print on them and are dated as far back as the 1930’s. “Whoever this is spending them is spending them for a dollar, but they’re worth a lot more than that due to the age on them dated back to the 1930s,” said Captain Grisham. Suspects have been using the stolen money at local businesses and investigators want people to remain on the lookout for them.
