The Selmer police officer who was suspended after being charged with assaulting his wife has resigned. Tuesday, in an email sent to the Selmer Police Department, Jeremy Wilson resigned, effective immediately. Last month, he was charged with aggravated domestic assault in Chester County and put on leave pending the outcome of his case. According to Police Chief Neal Burks, Wilson was ordered to take an anger management course and once completed, the judge would have expunged his charge. However, Chief Burks said he decided it would be best for the department, if the matter was resolved more quickly. “: Officer Wilson was a good officer,” said Burks. “He did a good job. I really hate to lose him, but everyone makes mistakes.” In his letter of resignation, Wilson apologized for any shame or disgrace he may have caused the department, co-workers or the City of Selmer.
