Accused Rape Suspect Arrested

Alamo Police told 7 Eyewitness News they have arrested the man wanted in connection with a Monday rape all thanks to a tip from a 7 Eyewitness News viewer. Officers told 7 Eyewitness news Adonis Winston, 25, was arrested around 7, Wednesday evening in a home in the Gadsden area. He was wanted on charges of aggravated rape, sexual battery and aggravated burglary. Investigators said Monday afternoon, a 22-year-old woman was outside her home on West Main Street, playing with her pets, when Winston approached her. She told officers she asked him to leave, but instead he shoved her inside the house and raped her. “He made threats and comments that he had a knife which led her to believe that he did have a knife and that he was gonna do serious bodily injury or kill her,” said Assistant Chief Jim Knox of the Alamo Police Department. Assistant Chief Knox told 7 Eyewitness News the victim is now staying with family and is doing well. Winston remains jailed in the Crockett County Jail.
