It was a day to let the good times roll in downtown Jackson as the annual Mardi Gras parade rolled through the Hub City. Spectators lined the route to catch a glimpse of floats, cars and people all decked out for the Fat Tuesday parade in the traditional colors of green, gold and purple. Beads were the focus of attention as the parade moved along the streets. Storm Team 7 Chief Forecaster Gary Pickens was the Grand Marshal. Those attending said it was a great day with great weather to get outside and have a great time. “What’s the best part, just being out here in the sunshine, getting a few beads, just being out to a fun time,” said David Vaultonburg, a parade spectator. The downtown Mardi Gras parade will be Tuesday night at the Downtown Tavern. Fat Tuesday marks the end of celebrations before the beginning of Lent at Midnight, Wednesday.
