One agency that helps area residents who are in need is offering classes to teach adults to read. Leaders from the Regional Interfaith Association said the 18 million Americans do not read well enough to earn a living, while others can not read the newspaper or a story to their child. RIFA is offering free adult reading classes to help meet their needs. A new set of classes begin on Monday, February 27. The classes will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from Noon to 1 p.m. at the RIFA Life Enrichment Center on West College across from the Farmers Market. For more information, contact RIFA at (731) 427-7963.
