Four Liquor Stores Approved in Lexington
We now know who will potentially be opening up Lexington’s first liquor stores since it was made legal this past September. The Lexington Board of Aldermen met in a special called meeting Tuesday night and approved all four applications for a liquor licenses in the city. If all goes as planned, The Copper Keg will open on the west end of town, Southern Spirits will be on the South end, and Johnny’s East End Liquor will be on the east end just down the road from where Cornerstone Wine and Spirits will be. Owners like Diane Adams said they are excited to have the opportunity to open a new business, but also to have liquor tax revenue stay in their city. “Of course I was excited when the vote was on the referendum, and was very excited when it was voted in. Just felt like this was a really good opportunity for my husband and I,” said Adams. All four potential liquor store owners now must have approval from the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission in Nashville as their final step before opening. The TABC is scheduled to meet at the end of March.
