Free Blood Pressure Checks at JMCGH

High blood pressure is one of the major risk factors for heart attacks, strokes and other vascular diseases. Those type of diseases kill more than 800,000 Americans each year, which is more than any other condition. Of that number, 150,00 are younger than age 65. To help screen for high blood pressure, Jackson-Madison County General Hospital is offering free checks. “Hypertension or high blood pressure is a silent killer, so sometimes we are walking around and we don’t realize we have high blood pressure and hopefully this will be a wake up call to some that come in today,” said Melissa Walls, an R.N at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. You can stop by General Hospital’s Vascular Center for a free blood pressure check. You can also get a Heart Aware online assessment.
