Workers Planning Demolition of Burned Church

Fire investigators said they believe they know the cause of a raging fire that completely destroyed a former church building in downtown Jackson on Friday. The fire engulfed the former First Baptist Church building, damaged two other buildings and set a grass fire. Investigators said crews, using torches while working on the roof of the four-story structure may have inadvertently started the fire Insurance investigators were on the scene, Monday. The building was a total loss and some of the remaining structure has already been torn down.
