Karma Ultralounge Permanently Closed

The Karma Ultralounge is permanently closed according to Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist. According to city leaders, Jackson’s plans to institute a nuisance action against “Karma” is moot after its owner, Jerry Gardner, surrendered both his beer license and his business license in response to a discussion between his lawyer and the city attorney. The City of Jackson said it is also evaluating other night clubs that have been granted the privilege to sell beer to determine if they are meeting their responsibility to maintain proper control over the crowds their businesses attract. Mayor Gist stated, “Bar owners need to know that they should gain and maintain control over the people they attract to their clubs. It is their responsibility to guarantee the safety of their patrons. If they don’t, the city will use all the tools available to it, including nuisance actions to close them as well. We live in a wonderful city comprised of good law-abiding people. It’s a shame that such a miniscule number of people can create such havoc and threaten the safety of our citizens.”
