Jackson Councilman Johnny Dodd gave his opinion Tuesday of what could have contributed to the violence in a downtown club that left a man dead and 19 injured. Also the owner of a local bar/lounge, Dodd said club owners need to be mindful of the environment they are creating for their guests. Seven of the people injured at Club Karma Sunday morning were under age 21, one of them not even 18. Lecarlos Todd, who was killed, was also under 21. Dodd believes clubs in Jackson should only allow people ages 21 and older. He also said that the large amount of out-of-town guests there that night may have contributed to the conflicts. “I try to make sure my parking lot is secure and make sure people is not hanging in the parking lot when you come through the door. We check you and make sure you have no weapons on you. Number one thing is you know who your people are,” said Dodd. Dodd wants this weekend’s events to serve as a warning to local club owners to really evaluate how they run their establishments.
