Santiago Arrested in Chicago on First Degree Murder Charge

Demetreous Santiago has been arrested after being on the run for nearly two weeks. Santiago, 18, is charged with the first degree murder of former Memphis Police Officer Charles Jones whose body was dumped in Madison County. He was also wanted on an arson charge in Jackson for allegedly setting fire to a car. According to the US Marshals Service, their Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force – Chicago Office joined in on the manhunt for Santiago and early Wednesday afternoon, task force members found him walking down the street in Chicago. When Santiago saw U.S. Marshals, they said he immediately surrendered and said “I am the one you are looking for.” Santiago taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Cook County Jail. Santiago will remain in Chicago until he is extradited back to Tennessee.
