Party Shop Owner Indicted

Last week, 7 Eyewitness News first showed you the raid of a Gibson County convenience store by drug officers. Now, the owner of that store has been indicted on several charges. William Jerry Callis was indicted, Wednesday on four counts of distribution of synthetic marijuana, four counts of reckless endangerment and two counts of felony delivery of drug paraphernalia. Last Thursday, task force officers raided his store in Trenton. Callis was arrested after undercover officers said he told them synthetic marijuana. Callis’ bond is set at $50,000. “When people go to a store and they buy something with a different name and it’s being sold, supposedly as aroma-therapy but it’s actually being sold for them to smoke, they don’t have a clue what they’re smoking, and a lot of times we don’t know what they’re smoking until we get results back from the crime lab,” said Donald Blackwell, Special Agent with the West Tennessee Drug Task Force. Officials said it is taking longer than usual to get the results back due to a backlog at the crime lab.
