Two Dead After Police Shootout
A second person has died after a shootout that followed a police chase in East Tennessee.
TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm said an Anderson County deputy spotted a stolen pickup truck that had been driven away from a Lake City gas pump without paying and tried to pull it over on Wednesday afternoon. Anderson County Sheriff Paul White said someone in the truck began firing a gun at police after a second deputy joined the chase, according to The Knoxville News-Sentinel (http://bit.ly/zlAkDj ).
A man and a woman were in the truck and they ran into a field after a tire blew. Both suspects were hit during a shootout. The woman was dead at the scene. The man died later at a hospital from gunshot wounds.
Authorities didn’t immediately release their names.
