Sacred Heart students will head north at the end of the school year. This coming summer the new permanent home for Sacred Heart will be where Grace United Methodist Church stands on McClellan Road. “Yeah it is a unique partnership but ultimately Grace Methodist is being helped Sacred Heart is being helped out and we are all God’s children so it works out for all of us,” said Sacred Heart Principal Robin Perry. The Board of Sacred Heart High School made an offer of $1.1 million dollars to purchase the two buildings and thirteen acres from the church. February 29 the offer was voted on by the Methodist congregation and approved. “We may be using some of there spots on Wednesday nights and Sundays and they may perhaps have graduation in our sanctuary and a few things like that,” said Grace United Methodist Church member Amy Hastings Elizer. Jacob Williams is a junior at Sacred Heart. “We have been in the small school and as we are increasing in population it’s very good to have a larger building,” he said. 85 students will begin class this coming August at the new location. Five years from now school officials hope to see that number increase to 200 students. “Most of our students live out in that area anyway so for them it’s going to be a lot closer,” said Perry. “We are looking forward to seeing a lot of young people there and working together. We may be different denominations but it is exciting to know we are getting that neighbor next door,” said Hastings Elizer.
